Pat Hickey is a fourth term Nevada lawmaker. He’s also a fourth generation Nevadan whose Irish ancestors came to the Carson Valley-Lake Tahoe area in the 1870s.

Pat has worked in Nevada as a reporter, newspaper columnist, editor, and college instructor in journalism. He has a Masters in Journalism from the University of Nevada’s Reynolds School of Journalism. His thesis was entitled, “What Nevada Lawmakers Think of Media Coverage During a Legislative Session.”

As an Assemblyman, Pat served as the Republican Minority Leader for the 2013 Legislative Session. During the current 78th Session, he is serving on the Education, Taxation, and Ways and Means Committees.

In 2009 Pat authored “Tahoe Boy—A Journey Back Home,” a book published by Seven Locks Press. Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Warren Lerude called Tahoe Boy, “A grand and daring adventure.”

Hopefully “From Soup to Nuts: Daily Observations on the Nevada Legislature” will be another such journey.
